Agartala, Oct 3 (PTI) The Tripura government will ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Durga Puja festivities, a state minister said on Saturday.

The northeastern state recorded 373-MW pick-hour demand during the puja days in 2025, while the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) provisioned for 380-MW, he said.

“We held a review meeting with senior officials of TSECL and the power department to review the electricity arrangement for the ensuing Durga Puja. This year, the TSECL will provision for 410-MW as pick-hour requirement,” Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath told reporters here.

“During the puja days, we usually import power from Mizoram to meet the extra demand, and we supply extra power to the neighouring state during Christmas celebrations. This will continue this year, too,” he said.

The TSECL has been asked to make contingency plans to meet any unforeseen situation during the festival days, Nath said.

“The IMD has ruled out the likelihood of heavy rain during Durga Puja, but a comprehensive report will be provided to the government a day before October 10 to take precautionary measures,” he added. PTI PS RBT

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
