New Delhi, Oct 6 (PTI) Traffic restrictions will be imposed on several key roads in Delhi on Wednesday morning as the BJP is set to hold a programme marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life, with a large number of participants and vehicles expected to attend.

The restrictions will be in place from 5 am to 1 pm around the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, where the Delhi BJP is organising its main ‘Seva Jyoti’ programme. Processions of BJP workers and supporters from organisational mandals across Delhi will also converge at the venue ahead of the programme.

The Delhi Traffic Police said traffic will be regulated or diverted, depending on traffic conditions and operational requirements, on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Ring Road), IP Marg and Vikas Marg during the period.

Traffic will also be regulated on stretches including Shanti Van Crossing-Rajghat-Bhairon Marg on both carriageways of Ring Road, the stretch between Geeta Colony Flyover, IP Flyover and Salimgarh Bypass, W-Point-Delhi Gate and Delhi Gate-Rajghat on JLN Marg.

The Rajghat-Kisan Ghat/Power House Road stretch and both carriageways between ITO and Yamuna Bridge via IP Marg and Vikas Marg will also be affected, the advisory said.

No traffic will be permitted on Secretariat Road and Velodrome Road from 6 am onwards, as per operational requirements, police said.

The traffic police has advised commuters to avoid Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, IP Marg, Vikas Marg, JLN Marg, Ring Road and Salimgarh Bypass between 5 am and 1 pm wherever possible.

No parking will be allowed on the affected roads and stretches, and vehicles found parked there may be towed and prosecuted, the advisory read.

Several BJP leaders, including Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, MPs, MLAs and national and state office-bearers, are expected to attend the programme. PTI MSJ MSJ MDO

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
