Mumbai, Sep 8 (PTI) Vehicles carrying Ganesh devotees to Konkan during the upcoming festival would be exempted from the payment of toll, the Maharashtra government announced on Tuesday.
The exemption will be applicable from September 11 to 27 at toll plazas on Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway No 48, Mumbai- Goa National Highway No 66, and other roads leading to Konkan, an official release said.
Vehicles travelling to Konkan via the Atal Setu too will be eligible for the toll exemption.
Every year, lakhs of people living in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and other cities across the state travel to their native villages in Konkan to celebrate the Ganesh festival.
Devotees can obtain special stickers or passes bearing the inscription “Ganeshotsav 2026 Konkan Darshan” at police stations, traffic police posts and RTO offices.
The pass will also remain valid for the return journey.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses travelling from various districts of the state towards Konkan for Ganeshotsav will also be eligible for toll exemption. PTI MR KRK
