Mumbai: Journalist Arnab Goswami on Wednesday walked out the Taloja jail in adjoining Raigad district, hours after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail in the 2018 abetment to suicide case.

Goswami came out of the jail around 8.30 pm and waved to people assembled outside from the vehicle carrying him, saying he was thankful to the Supreme Court for granting him bail.

He flashed the victory sign and said, “this is the victory of the people of India.”

The apex court, in its ruling earlier in the day, said it will be a “travesty of justice” if personal liberty is curtailed.

Goswami was arrested on November 4 from his Lower Parel residence in Mumbai and taken to Alibaug in neighbouring Raigad district.

He and the two other arrested accused were later produced before a magistrate who refused to send them in police custody and remanded them in judicial custody till November 18.

  1. Arnab is not a person. He now represents an idea. The idea of a confident Bharat. Let this be a warning to anti-national news channels, fascist parties like the Congress and the communists and their macaulayite chamchas like Jyoti Malhotra and Shivam vij. You have captured the institutions of media, academia, NGOs for far too long. Your days of occupation are numbered. There is a revolution brewing in every corner of India. The ordinary people if Bharat, whom you have been looking down upon, are now rising up and the fascist riff raff will be washed away. Be warned.

  2. If governments can arrest any person who criticizes, this is is height of intolerance and a great challenge to our democracy. The FIR filed appears concocted and a shameless display of vengeance Even if you have a person ,detestable and an hated adversary, you have a method to react and deal with him. Misusing the powers by the Government and police is equally detestable and grave threat to democracy. .

  3. You wrap up this article in a few sentences.

Do you morons at The Print have any idea what a far reaching decision this is by the Hon. SC?
