Kolkata, Sep 16 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday announced a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
Adhikari said this year is significant as it will mark 25 years of Modi’s public service in October, as the chief minister of Gujarat and the prime minister.
In a social media post, the CM also urged people of the state to light lamps at homes, institutions and temples across the state on September 17 to mark Modi’s birthday.
“To commemorate Modi ji’s glorious journey of public service, a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ will begin from September 17,” Adhikari said.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda had on Tuesday also announced a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ across the country from September 17, featuring blood donation and medical camps, cleanliness drives, beneficiary outreach and a series of programmes to highlight the Narendra Modi government’s achievements.
The BJP leader said the campaign, being organised to mark the PM’s birthday, would focus on service, good governance and welfare of the poor, while also taking the government’s schemes and policies to beneficiaries at the grassroots. PTI BSM RBT
