Latur, Oct 3 (PTI) A six-year-old girl drowned after accidentally falling into an open well in a village in Maharashtra’s Latur district, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Ramghat Tanda in Shirol-Janapur village area of Udgir taluka on Friday afternoon, inspector Birappa Bhusnur said.

According to police, the child’s mother had gone to work in the fields when the incident occurred, and the girl was later found to have fallen into the well and drowned.

Villagers reached the spot after being alerted and made efforts to retrieve the girl’s body, and the police were subsequently informed, the official said. PTI COR ARU
