Thane, May 25 (PTI) Seven persons were booked in Mumbra in Thane district for allegedly getting a minor girl married off without her father’s consent at a mass wedding ceremony, a police official said on Monday.

“At the mass wedding, a girl, whose date of birth as per Aadhaar details is September 30, 2008, which means she is not yet 18, was married off without the consent of her father,” the official said.
Those booked under Prohibition of Child Marriage Act include the organisers of the mass wedding ceremony, the qazi who solemnised the ‘nikah’, the girl’s mother, groom and others, including the principal of a school, he said.
