Varanasi/Prayagraj, Sep 16 (PTI) A series of service-oriented programmes will be held across Uttar Pradesh on Thursday to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, including a bike rally from his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi to Vadnagar in Gujarat, and blood donation camps and film screenings in Prayagraj.

In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will flag off the ‘Seva Sankalp’ bike rally to Vadnagar. The rally will also mark Modi completing 25 years in public life, BJP leaders said.

The flag-off ceremony at the Rudraksh Convention Centre will be attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union minister Chirag Paswan, Uttar Pradesh deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary and several other BJP leaders.

Around 500 ‘Seva Yatris’ will travel to Vadnagar on motorcycles along 10 different routes. In Uttar Pradesh, the journey will pass through 50 districts, with 88 overnight halts and 187 stops. Young bikers from different states are also expected to join the rally, the BJP leaders said.

Before the rally, the participants will perform a ‘Jalabhishek’ of Lord Shiva at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham with Ganga water.

En route to Vadnagar, the participants will interact with ‘Lakhpati Didis’, ‘Drone Didis’, beneficiaries of government schemes and youth, the BJP leaders said.

In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh minister Nand Gopal Gupta will launch a ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ with a blood donation camp in Civil Lines and other activities, they said.

As part of the campaign, the film ‘Hanuman Ansh’, which is based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba and his devotion to Lord Hanuman, will be screened at PVR Cinemas in Civil Lines free of cost for BJP workers and their families from September 17 to 20.

A birthday celebration, including cake-cutting, will also be held there on Thursday, the organisers said. PTI COR KIS ARI

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
