Beed, Oct 27 (PTI) A 70-year-old man and his six-year-old grandson were killed while his wife sustained critical injuries after their two-wheeler rammed a stationary tractor-trolley in Kaij tehsil in Beed district of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Pandurang Thodsare and his grandson Vijay Santosh Thodsare (6), both residents of Mangrul in Kalamb tehsil of Dharashiv district.
Pandurang’s wife, Indubai (65), is currently battling for her life at the Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Government Medical College and Hospital (SRTRGMC) in Ambajogai.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8 pm on Monday in front of a roadside eatery on the Kaij-Kalamb Road.
Police said headlights from an oncoming vehicle blinded the rider.
“The parked trolley lacked rear reflectors or warning indicators, making it virtually invisible in the dark. Unable to gauge the obstruction in time, the two-wheeler rammed into the rear of the trolley at high speed,” a police official said.
Pandurang died on the spot due to the impact. His grandson Vijay succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Ambajogai on Tuesday morning, said Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Manjarme. PTI COR NSK
