Bilaspur (HP), Oct 1 (PTI) Adequate security personnel and sector magistrates will be deployed, and special vigilance on security and traffic arrangements will be maintained for President Droupadi Murmu’s proposed visit to Bilaspur district on October 6, officials said on Thursday.

Chairing a review meeting, Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar said the President, during her one-day visit, will pay obeisance at the Maa Naina Devi temple and also attend the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bilaspur.

He instructed all officials to discharge their duties with utmost seriousness and responsibility and ensure there are no shortcomings in the arrangements during the President’s visit.

All departments were instructed to complete necessary preparations on time and as per the protocol.

The Public Works Department and the National Highways Authority of India were directed to complete repair and maintenance of roads along the President’s proposed travel routes.

The Electricity and Forest Department officials were asked to ensure immediate removal of trees, power lines and other obstructions along the approach road from Toba to Shri Naina Devi Ji. The Jal Shakti Department was told to ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply.

The deputy commissioner directed the Health Department to discharge duties in a time-bound manner, and directed the Police Department to deploy an adequate number of security personnel along the President’s route.

He said sector magistrates will be appointed at key locations to ensure effective monitoring of all arrangements.

In view of the President’s visit, Kumar, who is also the district magistrate, has issued a prohibitory order in Bilaspur under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, from October 4 to 5 pm on October 6.

According to the order, the flying or operation of drones, paragliders or parasailing has been completely banned in the district during the prescribed period.

Additionally, a ban has been imposed on carrying ammunition and weapons — long-range, sharp-edged or any other kind — that could affect law and order or human safety.

The order will not apply to police forces and authorised security personnel. PTI COR BPL RUK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
