New Delhi, Sep 20 (PTI) The ongoing second edition of India Art Fair’s city-focused “IAF EDI+IONS” in Ahmedabad has brought together galleries, designers and an institution at the historic Baronet House, while extending the showcase into a wider programme of exhibitions and cultural events across the city.
The two-day fair, currently underway at the century-old Indo-Gothic landmark in Shahibaug, follows the inaugural Hyderabad edition in 2025 and features 18 participants, including five Ahmedabad-based galleries, two design participants and the Public Arts Trust of India (PATI). The Ahmedabad edition seeks to highlight the city’s distinctive creative ecosystem alongside modern and contemporary art and design practices from across India.
The participating galleries include 079 | STORIES ART GALLERY, Archer Art Gallery, Iram Modern, Samara Art Gallery and ZOCA from Ahmedabad, along with galleries from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Design participants include Mumbai-based Studio Renn and designer Ashiesh Shah.
“Ahmedabad has long held an extraordinary place within India’s cultural landscape — shaped by generations of artists, architects, designers, craftspeople, collectors and patrons who have championed experimentation and new ideas.
“With this edition, we want to celebrate that legacy while creating new connections between the city’s creative community and voices from across the country,” Jaya Asokan, director of India Art Fair (IAF), said in a statement.
The fair venue itself forms part of the experience, with outdoor projects by Samara Art Gallery and PATI extending the artistic encounter into the architectural setting of Baronet House.
The event began on September 18 with a citywide programme of gallery walkthroughs, artist open studios, exhibitions, music, conversations and cultural gatherings.
Among the exhibitions is “Truth is Stranger Than Fiction” by artist Khanjan Dalal at 079 | STORIES ART GALLERY, featuring a sculptural series in ceramics. Iram Modern is presenting “No Single Ground”, a selection of works by modern masters, while Archer Art Gallery is hosting “Parikrama”, a solo presentation by Ganesh Gohain marking his 60th birthday.
GALLERYSKE and the Museum of Contemporary Art Ahmedabad (MCAA) have also collaborated on “I Dwell in Possibility” at MCAA’s Satellite Venue.
The exhibition brings together works by five contemporary artists with books, furniture, plants, music and texts to explore the domestic space as a setting for new relationships between art, objects and ideas.
Launched in 2025, IAF EDI+IONS is designed as a series of curated showcases across India, extending India Art Fair’s programming beyond its annual Delhi event.
The 18th edition of IAF is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 4-7, 2027.
