Thrissur (Keralam), Oct 4 (PTI) Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi on Sunday claimed that he has sanctioned more than 80 per cent of his MP funds for Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency to undertake 93 development works which would be beneficial for the state.

Gopi, the Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural gas and Tourism, said, in a Facebook post addressed to the residents of Thrissur, that out of the Rs 14.7 crore allocated for the constituency, he has recommended development works worth over Rs 11.9 crore or 80.99 per cent of the total amount.

“Through that, 93 projects which will benefit the state in various ways will come to life,” he said.

The minister further said that obstacles occur in every journey, but they will give way to the sincerity towards the people of the BJP government at the Centre.

He claimed that efforts to delay the projects by entangling them in files and red tape received “help” from many quarters and there were those who secretly and publicly said that the development work will not happen.

Gopi said that he prefers to answer such campaigns through deeds and not words.

The minister contended that those who see people every five years during elections would be naturally worried to see the changes occurring in the state in such a short time.

“It is my duty to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to me. Obstacles may still arise, but Thrissur’s development momentum will not be deterred by anything,” he said in his post. PTI HMP KH

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
