New Delhi: Chemistry, economics and other subjects won’t feature in what you can call “real education”. Only value-based education can be termed so.
This is what RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had to offer at an event organised to discuss the Modi government’s New Education Policy.
The event, held by RSS-affiliate Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas in the national capital, saw HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Yoga guru Ramdev’s close aide Balkrishna and other senior RSS functionaries and educationists in attendance.
“Subjects like chemistry, economics and others are not real education. Value education is real education. One just needs to study these subjects to get through the practical struggles of life,” said Bhagwat, who was talking about the importance of Indian values in education and their inclusion in the New Education Policy.
Bhagwat, however, admitted that he hasn’t gone through the policy document.
“I have not read the policy document of New Education Policy but according to my understanding education should have Indian values, otherwise it’s meaningless.”

What India’s education should be like
The RSS chief cited the example of Finland to make his point about what education should look like in India.
“Finland has the best education system in the world because they teach their children to face the struggles of life and not simply pass school examination and get ahead in a competition. We should also teach our children Indian values and prepare them for the real struggles of life,” said Bhagwat.
The RSS chief stressed the importance of “Indian-ness” in education and presented various examples from scriptures to tell what is Indian, and how all that is Indian should be a part of education system.
Bhagwat appealed to teachers and senior functionaries of education institutions present at the event to ensure that Indian values-based education is taken to all parts of the country.
The event, ‘Gyanotsav’, was meant to discuss various aspects of education, including Indian values-based studies and character building. Vice chancellors, teachers and senior functionaries of educational institutions from across the country attended it.

As per him,Economics , chemistry , physics etc are not required. Can anyone explain how we could have reached Mars and how we could have launched chandrayaan. And since they think economics is of no use and may be haven’t studied about it,
That’s why they don’t no how to deal with the worsening economy of the country.
According to the Rss and BJP, there is no need of isro and drdo as these organisations are based on science only (our engineers study maths and science).
Can you imagine where our country would have been if it was in their hands after the independence. It was the foresightedness of nehru ji and his successors that our country has gone to Mars, going to moon , has given the best CEOs and scientists in the world, best ias, IPS, and best army in the world. These people only know how to misguide the country in the name of patriotism and religion. What they think, only they are patriotic. Each Indian is patriotic, and it’s not because of them, it’s because we Indians love and respect our country as our mother, for us our country is not just a piece of land. And these things are not told to us by rss or BJP. We have learnt the patriotism much before the BJP’s existence, we have learnt to respect each other’s religion. So. Plz stop calling anyone as anti-national if they are not following your theory of nationalism. You don’t need to teach patriotism to us. We know it much better than you. Just advice BJP leaders to focus on improving the economy and education in forward direction,
Don’t make India feel down on international platform in science and research. Otherwise , only one thing you can do: doing nothing and rename the institutions on your name. And what type of moral values you are talking about? You don’t even know how to respect our freedom fighters. You don’t know how to respect other religions, don’t know how to respect the WOMAN. and you are talking about moral values??? First, teach these to the BJP’s and rss people , how to behave with them and clean each one’s mind regarding their thinking about the WOMAN. Sirf ganga mein dubki lagane se pavitra nahin hote hain, pavitra man, pavitra aatma ho to aise hi paap nahin lagega, ganga ji mein dubki lagane ki jarurat nahin padegi.
Best education system is in Finland and Sweden. They dont force children with aritmatics and geographies. Nor they force in their throat of physics and chemistry. The entire teaching is based on practical utilities for being good behavior and excellent approach to learning. Yes, approach to learning. Once this done in schools, people choose their career and get specialized into subject in which they have passion. Sweden produces the best university graduates and Finland stands number one in happy living index. Most of the people with mechanical and civil engineering finally get settled in BPO operations. Sundar Pichai may be exception.
Can a person obtain formal employment anywhere in the world by merely claiming that “he has good values” without possessing the necessary educational qualification? Bhagwatji is a powerful person and maybe he means well. But his statements will immediately be taken up by the neo-nazi left liberal casteist mafia (which includes much of the media) to attack ordinary people of India.
I agree with RSS view on education. It’s critical to treat primary education differently from skills education. Primary education should focus on building Indian values in students. Skills education should focus on what’s needed to work as a professional by the market. During past several decades Indian students had been deprived of Indian values resulting in anti-indian attitudes pushed by Macaulay education system. This anti-Indianism has kept most of the students away from researching the achievements of India’s ancient past i.e. disconnected from India. Already ignorant of Indian values, Indian students are being brain washed by anti-India forces and India has become a mere spectator. This has to reverse by building Indian values in primary education.
Value teaching should be core to the education system. A learned value remains with a child for entire life and applicable for any job that we do. Material or subject study can be achieved at any point based on the requirement.
Are ‘gender equality’, ‘caste indifference’ and ‘religious tolerance’ considered Indian values? And is there a possibility of a potential clash with LGBT rights when curricula with Indian values is designed?
Singapore is richer than the United States. Also has a better education system, starting with schooling. For most Indian families, a really good education is the only tangible asset they can give to their children, assuring a better standard of living that they enjoyed. The study of English, familiarity with computers and technology are critical for their success. I often think how incredibly proud Sundar Pichai’s parents must feel.
