Indore (MP), Oct 23 (PTI) An ongoing investigation has revealed that a police head constable posted in Indore, his family members, associates and companies linked to them owned assets worth Rs 65.7 crore, an official said on Friday.

The anti-corruption Lokayukta Police conducted raids on properties of head constable Firoz Khan, posted as a driver at the Police Training College here, and those of his associates on October 14 following a complaint, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sunil Talan.

It was alleged that Khan, who had been absent from duty for a long time, bought disputed properties by using his position as a policeman.

Following the raids, a First Information Report was registered against Khan and his close associate, Roshni Verma, under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act.

“The investigation so far has revealed that 50 immovable properties were purchased in the names of the head constable, his family members, associates, and private companies. These include houses, agricultural land, and residential and commercial plots,” said DySP Talan.

The total value of these properties was Rs 18.29 crore as per official rates while their estimated market value was Rs 65.72 crore, he said.

The new properties discovered following the raids include two plots of land in a residential colony in Dewas with a total market value of Rs 60.54 lakh, the official said.

Police also found a wood-cutting machine purchased for Rs 6 lakh in the name of Khan’s mother in Pipalrawan, Dewas district, he said.

Khan’s total salary earnings during his 24 years of service in the police department were estimated to be around Rs 75 lakh, and his total legitimate income was estimated to be Rs 1.94 crore.

Further probe was underway, the official said. PTI HWP MAS KRK
