Jaipur, Oct 8 (PTI) A Station House Officer (SHO) posted in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district was killed and a constable injured when their car rammed into a stationary tractor-trolley in Jodhpur district, police said on Thursday.

The accident occurred on Wednesday night when Jhadol SHO Budhram Bishnoi was returning to Udaipur after attending a court hearing at the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur.

Chamu SHO Hanuman Bishnoi said the car apparently went out of control and rammed into the tractor-trolley parked along the roadside, killing Budhram on the spot.

The constable driving the car sustained injuries and has been hospitalised.

According to preliminary investigation, the headlights of an oncoming vehicle may have affected the driver’s visibility, preventing him from noticing the stationary tractor-trolley, police said.

The deceased officer was a native of Chamu and had been transferred from Banswara to Jhadol about two months ago.

His body was kept at the mortuary of a government hospital in Chamu. PTI AG SMV

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
