Jaipur, Jun 1 (PTI) The biennial process to elect three Rajya Sabha members from Rajasthan commenced on Monday, with the term of the sitting members ending on June 21, officials said.
Nominations can be filed till June 8, scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 9, while candidates can withdraw their names till June 11, they said.
The polling, if required, will be held on June 18 between 9 am and 4 pm, and the counting of votes will begin at 5 pm the same day. The entire process will be completed by June 20, the officials said.
The tenure of the three sitting Rajya Sabha members — Neeraj Dangi of the Congress and Rajendra Gehlot and Ravneet Singh Bittu of the BJP — will end on June 21.
Rajasthan has 10 Rajya Sabha seats, currently equally divided between the BJP and the Congress.
Going by the present strength in the 200-member state Assembly, the BJP is expected to win two of the three seats, while the Congress is likely to secure one, officials indicated. PTI AG ARI
