Jaipur, Oct 11 (PTI) The BJP on Sunday released its manifesto for the Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan and promised that every gram panchayat will see development works worth about Rs 5 crore over five years and have health and higher secondary school facilities.

It also said the annual assistance to farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will be increased to Rs 12,000.

The ‘Gram Vikas Sankalp Patra’ was released by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma at the BJP state headquarters here, ahead of the panchayat elections in the state to be held from October 22 to November 16.

The party promised daytime electricity supply for agricultural irrigation in all districts, drinking water connections for every rural household and healthcare facilities in every gram panchayat.

Under the agriculture-related proposals, the BJP said it will procure wheat at Rs 2,700 per quintal by providing a bonus over the MSP and establish agricultural equipment rental centres in every gram panchayat in phases.

The ruling party in the state also pledged to spend more than Rs 9,000 crore on constructing 19,000 kilometres of missing-link roads and build more than 3,000 kilometres of rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

For women, the Sankalp Patra promises loans of up to Rs 1.5 lakh at an annual interest rate of 1.5 per cent for Lakhpati Didis through the Rajasthan Mahila Nidhi and special efforts to bring 25 lakh women into the Lakhpati Didi category.

The monthly pension for eligible widowed and abandoned women would be increased to Rs 1,500 and the financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana will also be raised from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000, the BJP said.

The manifesto further promises Atal Gyan Kendras offering internet access, digital libraries and career guidance in every gram panchayat, besides the construction of 15,000 school buildings, 35,000 additional classrooms and 20,000 toilets.

It also proposes developing villages along the lines of urban areas by providing roads, drainage, streetlights, parks, internet connectivity and other civic facilities.

The BJP promised to strengthen all 14,403 gram panchayats in the state and provide infrastructure, staff and digital facilities to around 3,600 newly created panchayats on priority.

The manifesto also finds mention of proposals for 20,000 dairy cooperative societies, a Rs 100-crore camel conservation and development mission, and one lakh water-harvesting structures.

Before releasing the manifesto, Sharma inaugurated the newly constructed Seva Sankalp auditorium at the BJP headquarters.

State BJP president Madan Rathore, party state in-charge Sanjay Bhatia, organisation general secretary Ajay Kumar, co-in-charges Kuldeep Singh Chahal and Kavita Patidar, and other senior party leaders attended the programme. PTI SDA

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
