Jaipur, Oct 7 (PTI) The Rajasthan Congress will hold a series of meetings on Wednesday to discuss candidate selection, campaign strategy and local issues ahead of the Panchayati Raj elections in the state, party unit chief Govind Singh Dotasra said.

A meeting of the party’s core committee will be held, followed by a meeting of district presidents, district in-charges and co-incharges at the Pradesh Congress Committee office, he said.

Besides Dotasra, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly Tika Ram Jully and other senior leaders will attend the meetings.

Dotasra said the core committee will discuss the party’s strategy on local issues and formulate a campaign against the BJP government.

The party is also expected to discuss setting up divisional campaign committees and its manifesto for the panchayat polls. District leaders will be asked to coordinate with local leaders, MLAs and MPs for candidate selection, he said.

The Congress has already begun its panchayat election campaign, including a workers’ conference at Degana in Nagaur district. The party is also seeking to improve coordination and candidate selection after the recent urban local body elections.

The Panchayati Raj elections will be held in Rajasthan in four phases from October 22 to November 16. PTI AG DIV

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
