Jaipur, Oct 1 (PTI) Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a forest guard in Banswara and an assistant sub-inspector of police in Jaipur in separate cases of graft, officials said.

In Banswara, forest guard Bhupesh Patidar, posted at Garhi forest range, was allegedly caught red-handed accepting Rs 5,000 from a complainant for processing a forest land lease file.

The complainant has been cultivating land on the outskirts of the Forest Department’s area for a long time. The process for verification and preparation of a lease file was pending.

Patidar allegedly demanded Rs 6,000 for forwarding the file and providing it to the complainant. During verification of the complaint, he agreed to accept Rs 5,000, the ACB said.

After verification, a team laid a trap and arrested Patidar while allegedly accepting the money.

In a separate action in Jaipur, the ACB arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahesh Chand Meena, posted at Sanganer Sadar police station, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The ACB said Meena was the investigating officer in a case and had allegedly demanded money for releasing a pickup vehicle belonging to the complainant’s uncle and for not making another person an accused in the case.

Both accused are being questioned and separate cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act are being registered, the officials said. PTI SDA KSS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
