Chennai, Jul 26 (PTI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu on August 1, TNCC Chief B Manickam Tagore said on Sunday.
The visit gains significance as this comes after the party taken part in the TVK-led government’s cabinet.
Although the exact itinerary has not yet been disclosed, the visit is being closely watched since the timing coincides with the protests against the NEET gaining traction in the state, despite Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigning after the protest over the NEET paper leak in the national capital.
Confirming the visit, Tagore in a social media post said that Tamil Nadu is gearing up to extend an enthusiastic welcome to the opposition leader.
“As announced by K C Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Tamil Nadu on August 1. This visit by Rahul Gandhi, who has been relentlessly fighting to safeguard the Constitution, strengthen democracy, establish social justice, and secure the future of the youth, will infuse fresh enthusiasm and inspiration among the Congress workers and people of Tamil Nadu”, he said.
