New Delhi, Oct 4 (PTI) Connaught Place’s Inner Circle on Sunday morning witnessed cycling, fitness activities and live music as a stretch of the busy commercial district was opened up for residents as part of the Raahgiri Day initiative, with a cycle rally flagged off by Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood.

According to an official statement, the event, organised jointly with the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, featured activities ranging from yoga, Zumba and badminton to cricket, folk dance and puppet shows. Euphoria band also performed at Central Park.

Sood said cycling could help reduce air pollution while promoting physical fitness.

“Delhi government is making every effort to develop dedicated cycling tracks across the city and is also implementing various measures under the Electric Vehicle Policy to curb air pollution and promote cleaner mobility,” he said.

Dwivedi said the event highlighted the need for safer roads and greater access to public spaces for pedestrians and cyclists.

Officials urged people to follow traffic rules and avoid violations such as triple riding and driving on the wrong side of the road, saying responsible road behaviour was essential for everyone’s safety.

The event, themed ‘Roads are beautiful when they belong to people’, was organised with the participation of several government departments and civil society organisations. PTI MSJ SMV KSI

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
