Punjab BJP chief Dhillon announces new state office bearers

Chandigarh, Aug 2 (PTI) Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday announced the appointment of new office bearers for the state unit, saying it is aimed at further strengthening the party’s organisational structure in the state.

The appointments were announced following the approval of BJP national president Nitin Nabin.

The party announced 12 state vice presidents — Surjit Kumar Jyani (Fazilka), Rakesh Rathour (Jalandhar), Subhash Sharma (SAS Nagar), Manjit Singh Rai (Ferozepur), Ashwani Sekhri (Batala), Sushil Rinku (Jalandhar), Geja Ram Valmiki (Fatehgarh Sahib), Tejinder Singh Bittu (Jalandhar), Jasmine Sandhawalia (Kapurthala), Jatinder Mittal (Ludhiana), Ravi Karan Singh Kahlon (Gurdaspur) and Ranjit Singh Gill (Mohali).

Five state general secretaries — Anil Sarin, Rajesh Bagha, Parminder Singh Brar, Rajnish Dhiman and Jiwan Garg — have been appointed.

Dhillon also announced the appointment of 12 state secretaries.

Prominent among them are Manjit Singh Manna, Mangat Rai Bansa, Rakesh Sharma, Suraj Bhardwaj, Vandana Sangwal, Meenu Sethi, Ranjam Kamra, Charanjeet Singh Brar, Kamalpreet Kaur Chaudhary and Meena Tarnaich.

The party appointed Anuj Khosla as Yuva Morcha president and Jai Inder Kaur as Mahila Morcha president. Kaur is the daughter of former chief minister Amarinder Singh.

Lakhwinder Singh has been appointed Kisan Morcha president, Sheetal Angural will be heading the SC Morcha and Shivraj Chudhary has been given charge of the OBC Morcha.

Party leader S S Channi is Punjab BJP’s new chief spokesperson and Vineet Joshi has been appointed the state unit media head.

Pritpal Singh Baliawal and Parampal Kaur Sidhu have been appointed as state media co-incharges.

The party also appointed state cell coordinators, state IT convener and state treasurer.

Dhillon expressed confidence that the new team would work with dedication, discipline and commitment to further strengthen the BJP across Punjab.

He said the newly appointed office bearers would play a pivotal role in expanding the organisation, taking the policies and programmes of the party to every section of society and preparing for future challenges and electoral responsibilities.
