Shimla, Oct 8 (PTI) The three-day visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Himachal Pradesh has strengthened the cherished bond between her and the people of the state, Governor Kavinder Gupta said on Thursday.

President Murmu was on a three-day visit to Himachal Pradesh from October 6-8, during which she attended the first convocation of AIIMS Bilaspur as the chief guest, and visited the Hadimba temple in Manali and the Atal tunnel in Rohtang, officials said.

After seeing off the president at the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment’s (SASE) helipad in Manali, the governor said her presence in Himachal was a matter of immense pride and honour for the people of the state.

“Her gracious presence, warmth and interaction with the people added special significance to the visit and would leave a lasting impression,” Gupta said in an official statement.

Referring to President Murmu’s address to the graduating students at AIIMS Bilaspur, he said her emphasis on serving humanity and ensuring quality healthcare for people living in remote and difficult areas was highly inspiring and particularly relevant to Himachal Pradesh.

The message would inspire young medical professionals to dedicate their knowledge and skills to serving people in the far-flung areas, he said.

The visit to the Atal tunnel highlighted Himachal’s growing connectivity and strategic significance, while the visit to Hidimba temple reflected the state’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage, the governor said.

He also said the visit reflected the deep and cherished bond between the highest constitutional office of the country and the people of Himachal Pradesh. PTI BPL ARI

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
