New Delhi, Aug 19 (PTI) President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday condoled the loss of lives in a fire at a five-storey building in Kolkata and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

At least nine people, including a four-year-old child and two women, died and six others were injured on Wednesday in a fire at a dingy five-storey building in Kolkata,West Bengal that houses several hotels, police said.

“The news of the loss of lives in the fire incident in Kolkata is extremely sad. I express my condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured,” Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi. PTI AKV AKV NB NB
