Patna, May 31 (PTI) Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reference to Bihar’s local products during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme is a matter of pride for the residents of the state.

During the 134th episode of his monthly radio programme, Modi described Bihar’s traditional food ‘sattu’ (roasted gram flour) as a significant means to cope with heat, and also mentioned the state’s famous ‘Jardalu’ mango.

Choudhary, in a statement issued by the CMO, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Bihar’s traditional and nutritious drink ‘sattu’ as a means to cope with extreme heat, and made a reference to the state’s renowned ‘Jardalu’ mango. These references project Bihar’s unique identity on the national stage.” He said the PM’s remarks are an acknowledgement of the hard work of Bihar’s farmers, entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens, and signify the state’s rich agricultural and food traditions.

National-level recognition would help Bihar’s local products gain greater visibility in domestic and international markets and encourage farmers and producers, Choudhary said.

The Bihar CM said the state continues to contribute significantly to the country’s development through its cultural heritage, agricultural produce and folk traditions.

“I express gratitude to Modi ji for referring to Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, local products and issues linked to people’s lives. Such recognition at the national level is a matter of pride for the people of the state,” he added. PTI SUK ACD
