PK Jena resigns from OERC chairperson post amid statewide power outage

Bhubaneswar, May 25 (PTI) Amid statewide power outage during the hot and humid weather, Pradeep Kumar Jena on Monday resigned from the post of Chairperson of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on personal grounds.

According to a notification issued by the Energy department, the government has accepted Jena’s resignation as the OERC chairperson.

“Jena is allowed to relinquish his post with effect from May 25, 2026 (afternoon),” an official order signed by Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev said, adding that the Odisha Governor has accepted Jena’s resignation.

Jena was appointed as the OERC chairperson in March 2025 after completion of his tenure as the chief secretary.

The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission is a quasi-judicial body responsible for regulating electricity tariffs in the state. The OERC also works to promote efficiency, transparency, competition and economic growth in Odisha’s power sector. PTI AAM AAM RG
