New Delhi, Oct 27 (PTI) A day after her brother Rahul Gandhi was acquitted by a court in Uttar Pradesh in a defamation case, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said it takes immense courage, tenacity and the perseverance of a true warrior to stand against an “onslaught of lies”, the way he has.

Priyanka Gandhi’s response came to her brother’s post on X in which he just wrote ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, a day after he was acquitted by the MP-MLA court in Sultanpur in the defamation case related to his remarks against the then BJP president Amit Shah in 2018.

‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ is a Sanskrit phrase that translates to ‘truth, goodness (auspiciousness), and beauty’.

In her post on X, Priyanka Gandhi said truth can never be suppressed for long.

“This government has spent unprecedented resources on a filthy campaign to malign my brother, to defame him and slap bogus cases on him simply for fearlessly telling the truth. It takes immense courage, tenacity and the perseverance of a true warrior to stand against an onslaught of lies, the way he has,” she said.

“One by one the chips will fall. The truth will emerge clear and strong. This is just the beginning,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

After Gandhi’s acquittal, the Congress on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and alleged that it is a party “run by criminals”.

The opposition party vowed to fight on Gandhian lines and defeat the BJP with love, compassion and perseverance. PTI ASK ZMN

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
