Sultanpur (UP), Oct 20 (PTI) A 23-year-old man died and one other suffered serious injuries in a collision between a van and a trailer truck on the Tanda-Banda National Highway, police said on Thursday.
The accident took place near Baura Jagdishpur Madhavpur village on Wednesday night. The driver of the Tata Magic van, Israr Ahmed, died in the crash while his assistant was seriously injured and admitted to hospital, Semri police outpost in-charge Anil Saxena said.
Late Wednesday night, the van travelling from Sultanpur to Ambedkarnagar was hit by the speeding trailer coming from the opposite direction, he said, adding that the collision was so severe that the van was heavily damaged and its driver died on the spot.
The body and the injured trapped inside the vehicle were taken out with the help of locals.
The driver of the trailer truck fled the spot, leaving his vehicle behind, Saxena added. PTI COR SAB CK
