Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (PTI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday sanctioned an additional Rs 100 crore for ongoing infrastructure and heritage projects in Puri, officials said.

Majhi announced the additional allocation while reviewing the progress of the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre, Market Complex, Srisetu and Musa River development projects being implemented in Puri under the ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme.

The chief minister said there should be no shortage of funds for infrastructure development in Puri, a CMO release said.

The total estimated cost of the projects has been revised from Rs 557.19 crore to Rs 658.03 crore, it said.

“A decision has been taken to construct a multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 2,000 on the fifth floor of the JBPC,” the official said.

The ABADHA scheme aims to transform Puri into a world-class heritage city while preserving its distinct Kalingan architectural identity.

The projects include modernisation of infrastructure, improvement of pilgrim amenities, strengthening of city security and development of areas around the 12th-century Shree Jagannath Temple, officials said. PTI AAM AAM MNB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
