New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil on Tuesday reviewed Namami Gange projects in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and said the mission to ensure the uninterrupted and clean flow of the Ganga is yielding “tangible results.” Sharing details of the review on X, Patil said that in Uttarakhand, there are no polluted stretches in the main stem of the Ganga.
“The resolve for the uninterrupted flow, cleanliness and conservation of the Ganga river is moving forward with tangible results.
“In this direction, the absence of any polluted stretch in the main flow of the Ganga in Uttarakhand is a very significant achievement,” he wrote.
During the review, special emphasis was laid on complete interception of drains flowing into the Ganga in Uttarakhand, further strengthening sewage treatment infrastructure, and expanding capacity in line with future requirements, the minister said.
Patil said projects in major UP cities such as Kanpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi were assessed.
“In Uttar Pradesh, the status of ongoing projects was reviewed in major cities such as Kanpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi, with a focus on enhancing STP capacity, drain interception and diversion,” he said.
