New Delhi, Oct 7 (PTI) The New Delhi Municipal Council on Wednesday launched an end-to-end online system for birth and death registration, a portal for pet services and an initiative to improve the upkeep of 346 public toilets.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi launched the initiatives at Palika Kendra in the presence of council members and senior officials. The newly launched online pet services portal will allow owners to register their animals, book OPD and vaccination appointments, receive vaccination reminders, and access digital vaccination and health certificates, where applicable.

“NDMC veterinary hospital in Moti Bagh will become the first hospital to provide these services online. It will also provide access to digital pet and veterinary records and enable online payments, according to the civic body,” officials said during the press brief.

NDMC vice chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal said the new birth and death registration system will allow residents to apply online for services, including registration of home births and deaths, correction of certificates, inclusion of a child’s name and delayed registration.

“The new portal will enable an end-to-end online certification system of municipal services at users’ fingertips. This is our attempt to put citizens first,” Dwivedi said

The newly launched portal will feature an enhanced user interface (UI) and a new design, reducing paperwork and the need for physical visits, officials said. As part of the third initiative, senior officers and council members have adopted 346 public toilets across the NDMC area for regular monitoring.

Officials will check cleanliness, water availability, functioning of sanitary fixtures, waste removal, and availability of essential consumables at the facilities.

The NDMC said it will improve monitoring of civic services. PTI VBH ASD

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
