Jamshedpur, Jun 17 (PTI) The National Metallurgical Laboratory here has signed a technology transfer agreement with a Bengaluru-based company for recycling used lithium-ion batteries.
With this agreement, CircuOre Private Limited will get access to a technology that can help in recovering lithium, cobalt, manganese, nickel, copper, aluminium and graphite from used and waste lithium-ion batteries, said the laboratory, under the CSIR, in a statement.
The firm’s director, Srikumar Vachaspathi, said, “Waste batteries should not be treated only as waste. They should be considered as an important secondary resource, because many valuable metals and useful materials can be recovered from them.” PTI BS NSD
