Lucknow/Ghaziabad, Jul 26 (PTI) Ghaziabad Police is probing a purported statement made by an activist linked to a Hindu outfit, who allegedly said Muslim officers should not be assigned Kanwar Yatra duty, an official said on Sunday.
The activist has been identified as Satyam Pandit. Two videos of Pandit have surfaced on social media, one of which allegedly pertains to Ghaziabad and is being investigated, the official said.
In the said video, Pandit is purportedly seen saying that no Muslim officer should be assigned duty during Kanwar Yatra. He also urges the Uttar Pradesh chief minister to remove Nandgram assistant commissioner of police and replace him with a Hindu officer.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (City/Trans Hindon) Dhawal Jaiswal told reporters that police has taken cognisance of the video. Its contents are being examined, and action will be taken accordingly.
Another video of Pandit, allegedly pertaining to the recent youth protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, has also surfaced on various social media platforms. In the clip, Pandit is purportedly seen interrogating two young protestors, asking their names, address and religion.
He also slapped one of the two protestors, and hurled abuses at them.
Police said since this video pertains to Delhi, Ghaziabad Police is not investigating it.
