Mandla (MP), Apr 27 (PTI) Tigress “T-141” and her fourth offspring are in critical condition in quarantine at Kanha Tiger Reserve (KTR) in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh after her three cubs died in the past five days, officials said on Monday.
The tigress and the surviving cub, found weak and unwell, were rescued from the Sarhi range on Sunday and shifted to a quarantine facility in the Mukki range for treatment.
“They are under close monitoring, and their condition remains critical but stable,” Kanha National Park veterinarian Dr Sandip Agrawal told PTI.
Blood samples of the tigress and the surviving cub have been sent for examination, and reports are awaited, the veterinarian said.
The T-141 was spotted with four cubs in the Sarhi range last month, officials said.
The first cub died on April 21 and was reported to have succumbed to natural causes. Its stomach was found empty, he added. The second cub died on April 23 due to drowning, and its decomposed carcass was recovered.
Agrawal said the third cub, which died on April 25, succumbed to a lung infection.
