Gurugram, Jul 29 (PTI) Nuh police arrested one miscreant while his four associates, who were roaming in a black Thar with a fake number plate, escaped, police said.
Police seized the black Thar, a country-made pistol and 13 suspected mobile phones. An FIR was registered at the Ferozpur Jhirka Sadar police station in this connection, the police said.
According to the police, a team was patrolling the Beewa Road area on Tuesday when it received an input that Taj Mohammad and Samim, residents of the Jaitaka village and their associates were travelling in a Thar vehicle with a fake number plate, allegedly robbing passersby of mobile phones and cash.
The police team reached the specified location, where four or five youths were seen standing near the vehicle. Upon spotting the police, they allegedly attempted to flee. Four managed to escape, while the police nabbed one identified as Taj Mohammad, they added.
When the police searched the vehicle parked at the scene, they found the registration number HR96-1369 displayed at the front, while there was no number plate at the rear. A total of 13 mobile phones were recovered from a bag inside the vehicle. All the mobile phones were locked, and the accused could not produce any valid documents or bills for them, the police said.
A country-made pistol and two live cartridges were allegedly found in the vehicle. During questioning, the accused failed to produce any license or valid documents for the weapon, said the police.
