New Delhi: Under Special Campaign 4.0, the Ministry of Coal and its associated organizations participated enthusiastically and achieved outstanding results, a PIB press release announced. The ministry secured the top spot among all ministries and departments for space freed, totaling 78.46 lakh square feet, and ranked fourth in revenue generated from scrap disposal, totaling Rs 38.27 crore, the PIB said.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) highlighted the ministry’s efforts in resource optimization and sustainability during the eighth review meeting on SC 4.0 on 6 November. According to the DARPG, the ministry secured first place in space freed and fourth place in revenue generation from scrap disposal, showcasing its proactive efforts in resource optimization and sustainability.

The ministry, along with its public sector undertakings (PSUs), attached offices, and autonomous organizations, actively participated in the campaign. The campaign focused on rapid reviews and weeding out of physical and electronic files. Special attention was given to reducing the backlog of references from Members of Parliament, VIPs, public grievances, and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The ministry’s efforts during Special Campaign 4.0 resulted in a noticeable improvement in office cleanliness, with before-and-after photographs of cleaning sites showcasing substantial progress.  The ministry’s efforts in resource optimization and sustainability are evident in its top ranking for space freed and fourth place ranking in revenue generation from scrap disposal, according to the DARPG, which held its eighth review meeting on SC 4.0.

The Swachhata initiatives during the campaign led to the clearance of large areas within office campuses and surrounding areas, making more space usable. This initiative improved the environment and generated significant revenue from the disposal of scrap material, PIB asserted.
