A group of medical students from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, who are in Delhi under the Sevankur Bharat Programme of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan, called on President Droupadi Murmu Monday.
Under this project, the students are working towards empowering self-help groups, and promoting skill development and employment generation.
“Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan has been working to provide health services to the needy at low rates in the spirit of public welfare for the last three decades,” President Murmu said in a statement after the meeting.
The President appreciated the NGO’s contribution to social service and nation-building. She also emphasized the importance of affordable healthcare services.
She said, “Healthcare is a profession where the welfare of the society is not possible if earning money is the main goal. That is why healthcare professionals have to make values of compassion, kindness and philanthropy, their character traits while discharging their duty.”
President Murmu also urged the students to follow the ideals of Babasaheb Ambedkar and work for social justice, equality and fraternity.
