New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday carried out 46 demolition actions and sealed 11 properties across the national capital, taking the number of demolition actions since September 1 to 339 as its crackdown on dangerous buildings and unauthorised constructions continued.
The civic body also passed 12 demolition orders during the day’s enforcement exercise across all 12 zones, officials said.
The latest action comes a day after the MCD carried out 40 demolition actions and sealed 16 properties. On Monday, it had carried out another 40 demolition actions and sealed eight properties.
Major demolition action on Wednesday was carried out in Kardampuri and Shahdara, Prasadi Mohalla and Usmanpur-New Usmanpur in the North East Zone, Shastri Park in the East Zone, and Swaroop Nagar and Rani Bagh, among other areas, officials said.
The enforcement drive has been intensified following the September 6 collapse of a five-storey building housing a paying guest accommodation in Satya Niketan, which killed seven people.
The civic body is also continuing its survey of paying guest accommodation buildings to assess compliance with building norms and other statutory requirements. Around 2,453 PG buildings housing nearly 55,000 occupants had been identified in the survey by Tuesday, according to MCD figures.
The MCD said its enforcement drive against unauthorised construction, dangerous buildings and violations of the Master Plan of Delhi and building bye-laws would continue across the city. PTI VBH VBH SKY SKY
