Hyderabad, Aug 30 (PTI) Telangana government has allocated massive funds for development of education, healthcare, roads and irrigation sectors, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Sunday.
Vikramarka, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several development works worth Rs 131.61 crore related to roads, drainage, education and agriculture in Chintakani and Bonakal mandals of Madhira Assembly constituency, an official release said.
The government has undertaken several programmes aimed at the welfare of people and is working towards fulfilling their aspirations, he said.
Fine rice is being distributed free of cost through white ration cards to 1.06 crore families across the state. Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, up to 200 units of free electricity per month are being supplied to 53 lakh families. Free bus travel has been provided to women, while the coverage under Aarogyasri has been increased to Rs 10 lakh, he said.
Under Rythu Bharosa, Rs 9,000 crore in investment assistance was deposited directly into farmers’ bank accounts, he said.
The government is also clearing thousands of crores of rupees in pending bills left by the previous government, the Deputy CM said.
He said the breakfast scheme has been introduced for 27 lakh poor students studying in government schools, while the midday meal scheme has been extended to Intermediate students.
Vikramarka, who also holds finance portfolio, said the government has sanctioned 100 Integrated Gurukuls as part of efforts to reform the education system. Each Integrated Gurukul will be constructed on 25 acres with an investment of Rs 200 crore, he said.
He said the government is implementing several plans with an allocation of Rs 90,000 crore to strengthen the state’s road network. Another Rs 30,000 crore is being spent on road construction works in rural areas, he added.
Steps are being taken to complete pending irrigation projects at the earliest, he further said.
He said state-of-the-art hospitals are being made available to provide super-speciality healthcare services to the people, with an additional 14,000 beds being brought into public service.
The Deputy CM said women’s self-help groups are being provided Rs 20,000 crore in bank-linkage loans every year without interest.
He said that seven lakh Indiramma houses are being constructed for homeless and economically weaker families, with Rs five lakh being provided for each house.
For unemployed youth, more than 70,000 appointment letters were distributed. The government is also announcing a job calendar every year and taking steps to fill vacant posts, he said.
The minister said the government is making arrangements to provide Rs five lakh insurance coverage to every family in the state under the Indiramma Bima scheme.
He urged people not to fall into the trap of certain political individuals who are working against the development and welfare programmes being undertaken by the government.
The Deputy CM said development and welfare are the government’s primary agenda and that the government is working for the development and welfare of farmers, women and weaker sections of society.
He said the government is laying the foundation for transforming Telangana into a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Cabinet, elected representatives and officials are working collectively to position Telangana as a state capable of competing with developed countries such as Japan and South Korea, he added. PTI VVK VVK KH
