Churachandpur (Manipur), May 5 (PTI) In a crackdown on narcotics smuggling, police here have seized 994 grams of brown sugar concealed in soap cases and nabbed a woman during a raid at Tuibong, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Tuibong on Monday afternoon and recovered the drug in 82 soap cases, they said, adding the accused was identified as Hatneithem Haokip (32).
Police said further investigation into the matter was underway.
This came a couple of days after the police seized 27 soap cases containing brown sugar from two persons after intercepting a car during a routine check.
Hemant Baite (46) and Seikaisanglun Khongsai (20), who were travelling in the car, were nabbed on May 3, police added. PTI COR NSD
