Mathura (UP), Aug 2 (PTI) A man was allegedly murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district after he objected to his younger sister’s alleged relationship with an e-rickshaw driver, police said on Sunday.
Refinery Circle Officer Praveen Kumar Tiwari said the body of an unidentified man, aged around 30-32 years, was found in the Highway police station area on Sunday morning. The deceased was later identified as Govind, a resident of Agra.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s wife, police have registered a case against Mukesh, an e-rickshaw driver from Narhauli village, who is alleged to have been in a relationship with Govind’s younger sister.
According to the complaint, Govind, also known as Pappu, a resident of Sanwara village in Agra’s Fatehpur Sikri area, opposed the relationship.
The complainant alleged that Mukesh called Govind out of his house on Saturday night, made him consume alcohol and later killed him with an axe.
Police said the body bore injuries on the head and back caused by a sharp-edged weapon. The family has alleged that Govind was attacked with an axe. His body was recovered from the same Highway police station area where the accused resides.
