Bengaluru, Jul 27 (PTI) A man allegedly died by suicide by jumping in front of a running train at the Huskur Road metro station here on Monday, briefly affecting services on the yellow line, officials said.

The identify of the man is being verified by the police and further inquiry is underway, they said.

According to metro officials, the man took the extreme step at around 5.50 PM.

“The on-duty Station Controller and security personnel immediately initiated the prescribed safety procedures, and traction power was switched off as a precautionary measure,” the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) said in a statement.

Consequently, yellow line train services were temporarily operated only between Electronic City and Bommasandra Metro Stations, it said.

Yellow Line runs from RV Road (Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road) to Bommasandra.

The BMRCL has requested passengers to take note and plan accordingly.

“Efforts are underway to restore normal services at the earliest. The inconvenience caused is regretted,” it added. PTI AMP VGN KH
