Lucknow, Jul 26 (PTI) Police here have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a girl repeatedly by blackmailing her with an intimate video, officials said on Sunday.
The accused Abhishek Singh alias Golu (28), was arrested from the Mahakaal temple in Ujjain on Saturday, police said.
According to police, on July 24, a complaint was lodged at Sarojini Nagar police station stating that the accused had abducted the complainant’s minor daughter (around 16 years of age) after enticing her into a relationship by falsely claiming to be unmarried.
The accused had allegedly recorded an intimate video of the girl, and by threatening to circulate the clip on social media, repeatedly raped her and also extorted jewellery from her.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 64 (2) (repeated sexual assault), 137(2) (kidnapping) and 308 (2) (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Subsequently, the accused was arrested, and presented before court on Sunday which sent him to jail, police said. PTI NAV ARB ARB
