The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), founded by Abhijeet Dipke, and its supporters are planning to hold what they call a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi in a short while.
Despite applying for it late, the CJP has got permission to hold the protest at Jantar Mantar. As per Supreme Court guidelines, the permission is valid till 5 pm Saturday.
Dipke, who arrived from the US a short while ago, has called supporters and students to join the demonstration, to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG paper leaks, as well as the On-Screen Marking (OSM) and revaluation controversy in the Class 12 CBSE examinations, which has left thousands of students awaiting clarity on their final results.
Education reform advocate and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has also said he would join the protest.
Originally launched as a satirical response to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s remarks during a court hearing last month, when certain individuals were referred to as “cockroaches” and “parasites”, the CJP has since evolved into an organised campaign with a substantial online following.
