Shimla, Aug 24 (PTI) Light to moderate rain prevailed in parts of Himachal Pradesh, blocking 98 roads for vehicular traffic in the state on Monday evening.
As many as 98 roads were closed for vehicular traffic, while 21 power transformers and 21 drinking water supply schemes were also disrupted, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said.
Mandi reported the highest number of road blockages at 49, followed by Kullu (28), Kangra (8), Shimla, Sirmaur, and Una (4 each), and Lahaul Spiti (1).
Light to moderate rains lashed parts of the state in the past 24 hours since Sunday evening.
Naina Devi received 66.8 mm of rainfall, followed by Olinda (41 mm), Dharamshala (36.2 mm), Gohar (34 mm), Ghamroor (32.3 mm), Pachhad (31.2 mm), Murari Devi (27 mm), and Kangra (26.8 mm).
Between August 1 and 24, the state received 190.9 mm of rainfall against a normal of 214.4 mm, resulting in an 11 per cent deficit.
Since the onset of the monsoon on June 30, about 97 people have died in rain-related incidents, with the state suffering losses amounting to Rs 1,149 crore, officials said. PTI BPL MPL MPL
