Jagdalpur, Oct 23 (PTI) President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said that with the joint efforts of Centre and the state, Chhattisgarh was freed from menace of Naxalism and is now rapidly moving on path of progress by leaving the pain of Maoist violence behind.

Addressing the Bastar Dussehra Festival-2026 event here, she also expressed confidence that the tribal youth will participate in the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

“Chhattisgarh had grappled with the menace of Naxalism for a long time. But with joint efforts of Centre and the state, Chhattisgarh was freed from that menace, and has been rapidly moving on the path of progress,” the President said.

Referring to the Ramayana, she said, “Not only ‘vanar sena’ and sages, but I believe tribal communities living in forests also contributed to the defeat of Ravana.”

Leaving the pain of Naxal violence behind, Chhattisgarh has been progressing rapidly, President Murmu said.

“Several avenues of development are opening up before Chhattisgarh today, and I congratulate the Centre and the state for this. I have been informed that efforts to provide financial facilities to tribal entrepreneurs and connect them with markets have been accelerated,” she said.

Murmu said she was confident that these efforts would help achieve the goal of building a developed India by 2047 through equitable development.

“Tribal youth will actively participate in the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation,” the President said. PTI TKP VT NP

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
