Pune, Jun 23 (PTI) A landslide was reported in the early hours of Monday near Malin in Pune district, though no one was hurt as people had already been shifted to safety earlier, an official said.

Malin had hit national headlines on July 30, 2014 when a massive landslide buried a village after heavy rainfall, killing 151 persons.

“The landslide took place at 5:30pm today at Pasarwadi near Malin in Ambegaon tehsil. It partially covered a small kaccha road leading to the site earmarked for the rehabilitation of residents of the area,” he said.

“Since the region is landslide prone, four people living in three houses on the north side of the location were already shifted to safer places. The work of removing debris from the road is underway,” the district official added. PTI SPK BNM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
