Aizawl, Oct 27 (PTI) Kolasib district administration is gearing up for the fourth edition of the border festival, aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties and promoting better understanding between two neighbouring border districts – Kolasib in Mizoram and Cachar in Assam, officials said on Tuesday.
A preparatory meeting chaired by Kolasib Deputy Commissioner H Dolianbuaia on Monday reviewed arrangements for the two-day festival scheduled to be held at the Vairengte Joint YMA Playground on October 29 and 30, they said.
Dolianbuaia said the festival was conceived to foster closer ties between the two neighbouring districts despite differences in cultures, traditions, religious practices and ways of life.
He stressed the need for vigilance against elements that could disrupt communal harmony and called for collective efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence along the interstate border.
The festival will feature cultural programmes, traditional activities, sporting events and other joint activities showcasing the practices and traditions of the two districts, officials said.
The meeting also discussed arrangements for food stalls, visitor participation and movement, the festival schedule, and law-and-order measures, they said. PTI CORR RG
