Kozhikode (Kerala), May 4 (PTI) K K Rema, leader of the RMP, on Monday said Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s “struggle” in the Dharmadom constituency itself sends a political message to the ruling CPI(M).
Rema entered electoral politics after her husband, T P Chandrasekharan, was hacked to death on May 4, 2012, allegedly by a group involving CPI(M) activists, in a case that triggered major political controversy in the state.
The RMP, a UDF ally, is observing Chandrasekharan’s death anniversary on Monday as the counting of votes for the Kerala Assembly elections progresses.
In a Facebook post, the RMP leader reacted to the close contest in Dharmadom, where Vijayan is facing a tough challenge from Congress candidate V P Abdul Rasheed.
Rema, who is contesting from Vadakara, has been leading since the beginning of the counting process.
Referring to Vijayan trailing during the first six rounds of counting in Dharmadom, she wrote: “Six rounds have passed. Enough, Kerala. This is enough.” Vijayan, who had trailed in the initial stages, has since taken a slight lead as counting progresses.
In an apparent reference to the CM, she said the person who had allegedly branded others as “traitors” and called for their elimination was now “standing exposed in the scorching sun”.
“Chandrasekharan has witnessed this after a long wait of twelve years,” she said, referring to the slain RMP leader and her husband.
Rema also extended greetings to “political Kerala” for what she termed a significant democratic response. PTI TBA SSK
