Meerut (UP), Jul 6 (PTI) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Meerut Range Kalanidhi Naithani visited various areas of Meerut city on Monday to assess the preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra during the month of Shravan.
During the visit, he reviewed the Kanwar control room, CCTV systems, parking arrangements, cleanliness, and traffic management.
According to the police, the DIG visited the Civil Lines, Lalkurti, Delhi Gate, Railway Road, and Sadar Bazaar police station areas. Subsequently, he inspected the Kanwar control room established at the City Superintendent of Police’s office at Ghantaghar.
During the inspection, some CCTV cameras were found to be non-functional, while others were positioned incorrectly.
The DIG directed that all cameras be made operational immediately and their angles corrected. He also instructed that integrated access to CCTV cameras installed at major intersections and along the Kanwar routes be ensured from the control room.
Naithani also directed that the officers’ public grievance room be developed into a mini-control room to facilitate regular monitoring of the Kanwar Yatra via IP cameras and CCTVs.
He also inspected the Baba Augharhnath Temple in the cantonment area, reviewing parking arrangements, barricading, and the movement of devotees.
The DIG further instructed that low-hanging power lines within and around the temple complex be tightened and that tree branches obstructing the view of CCTV cameras be trimmed.
He directed that comprehensive arrangements be made for the convenience of devotees during the ‘jalabhishek’ (ritual offering of water) at the temple’s entry and exit points.
